Cherry Blossoms and the Vibrancy of Spring
Hey everyone! I hope you are all doing well! I took a little break from the blog last month because life was busy, but I'm excited to be back writing again! The weather here in British Columbia has shifted quite a bit since I last wrote.
At the beginning of April, the cherry blossoms opened up and were so beautiful. It was so nice to go out each day and see the progression before the petals fell away. It is really bittersweet for me when the cherry blossoms fall. Of course I will miss seeing the beautiful light pink on all the trees, but seeing the petals snowing down and blowing in the wind is so magical, and the air smells so sweet. And of course, the trees then have the beautiful, bright green leaves that make everything look so refreshed.
Since the weather has warmed up significantly, I’m spending quite a bit more time outdoors. I get so excited when the days get a little warmer, when I can comfortably sit outside and read or just relax. Enjoying the fresh air lifts my mood and calms any anxiety or stress that I’m carrying. It is so wonderful seeing all the flowers, listening to the birds chirping, and feeling the warm sun on my skin. The tulips right outside our home are so beautiful to look at, with their vibrant colours, standing on the tall stems. All the flowers in the neighbourhood look like gems swaying in the breeze. The life cycle of tulips is relatively short, so I really try to appreciate their beauty before the petals fall. Spring is such a vibrant and beautiful season, and I want to enjoy it as much as I can. With how short some of the flowers life spans are, I really see the importance of pausing and being with the beauty of it all.
Something that I noticed recently is how different the wind feels in the Spring. In the Fall and Winter, the wind is cold and sometimes harsh, something to protect yourself from. But in the Spring and Summer, the wind is refreshing, comforting, something that I welcome and savour. I love that about the changing seasons, how the same thing can feel so different depending on the time of year. Like in the Summer, the sun can feel like too much, and we sit in the shade to protect ourselves from it. But in the Winter, we bask in the warmth when it's cold outside. I find that being mindful of this helps me to savour and enjoy the things that are often taken for granted, to appreciate them more.
April was a hectic month, and I wasn’t as present as I wanted to be. I am really looking forward to slowing down a tiny bit and enjoying May more mindfully. I don’t want the time to go by too quickly, and I think enjoying all the moments, big and small, will help the time pass at a less alarming rate. If you don’t mind sharing, what is something you appreciate more in Spring/warmer months than in colder months? Maybe it’s the warm air, sunshine, or longer days. Feel free to share in the comments below the blog, I love reading what you all share!
I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the longer days and time outside. Remember to take care of yourselves, and make time to connect with what brings you joy
Have a wonderful rest of your week!

I love the photos of the cherry blossoms in this one, I can practically smell them again just looking. Something that I really appreciate in the spring/summer time is certain kinds of tea! I know it’s not exactly directly related to nature, but I feel like I somehow enjoy tea even more when I match it to the season.
feeling the sun again after a couple months of colder, harsher days always feels nice. There is a pocket right before March where everything feels like true spring. It feels like a new beginning when the breeze is cool and the sun is warm enough to keep you going. It lasts for about a week before we get our " second winter." This was such a nice read, cheers to May!
Beautiful as usual Sarah. The photos really capture the essence of Spring.
What I love about Spring is stepping outside and being surprized by the warmth on my face and hands; it’s a moment of “Hey! Spring!”, and is really joyful, like meeting a loved one after a long absence.
Another thing that I love about Spring is the sounds of the retuning birds, especially when it is through an open bedroom window, when waking in the morning. It is the best.
Thanks again for sharing and inspiring; I always finish one of your blog posts with a big smile on my face.
Love you 🫂😘😊🪬 Abba (Dad)
