Snow Storms and Connection
Hey everyone!
I hope you’re all doing well. The last two weeks since my first blog have flown by, and I’m excited to be writing another one and sharing some pictures! Thank you to everyone who read my last one, all of your support and kind words mean so much to me.
In the last two weeks, we finally got some snow where I live! I always love when it snows, so I was very excited to see it in the forecast. The first day when it started, I was outside with my camera and tripod, and there was only about a centimetre of snow on the ground with some very light flurries coming down. I felt a little bit disappointed, but I stayed outside and waited, hoping it would snow more. All of a sudden, within 10 minutes, the snow started to come down a lot, like a full-on blizzard! I could barely see in front of me. It honestly made me so happy to see, since I was almost ready to give up and put my camera equipment away.

Once the snow picked up, I knew I had to go into the woods. There is something so special about seeing the snowfall while walking through the forest. Watching as the snow slowly covers everything as the minutes pass, how everything gets so quiet, and peaceful. The whole energy of the world changes when it snows, and it’s so refreshing to experience.

A few days later, the snow stopped and the sunny weather arrived. It made for some amazing views of the snow-covered scenery. I absolutely love how the mountains look after a fresh snowfall. I think it looks so breathtaking, and the view becomes even more beautiful.

I’ve lived in British Columbia my whole life, and I’ve realized over the years that nothing feels quite as special as the snowy weather. I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about it, but to me, it feels like coming home. Maybe it’s the nostalgia from childhood, since snow days were often peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. So, whenever it snows, a little bit of that feeling surfaces again, bringing a sense of calm. Maybe it's how the snow brightens up the world, which is especially nice during the dark winter days. Or how hushed the world becomes, or how refreshing the air is. Whatever it is, it’s definitely an experience in nature that feels unique.
I think it's so amazing that we all have things that make us feel connected. Isn’t it so wild that something like weather, or nature, can make us feel this way? As time goes on, I’m learning to cling to these feelings, to hold them close. They are what help us feel alive, remind us of who we are, especially when things are difficult, and that is so extraordinarily important in life. It's one of the reasons I started this blog, to have a little corner of the internet that felt like a peaceful, happy place to be. No pressure to anyone reading, but if you’d like to, please feel free to share what makes you feel connected to yourself and the world around you in the comments below the blog! It could be anything. I’d love the hear!
I hope that wherever you are, there are things in your life right now that fill you with happiness and ease. Even something small, like a photo, or a song, can help, and remember to keep it close for when you need it. There are so many things in the world that we can draw joy and comfort from.
Wishing you all a wonderful week!

This is a beautiful blog Sarah ♥️Your words make all my senses kick in as I’m reading them; and those photos are spectacular! Love you 🥰
Thank you Sarah! That was very uplifting. Walking in the fresh snow is such a hyggelig activity; even though it’s cold, it warms you.
So much of what calms us, like experiencing nature, whether walking on a trail, taking a scenic drive, sitting by a window in full view of the snow, watching it come down, with a hot drink, or sitting outside, wearing warm gloves, a puffy jacket, snug toque and a soft fluffy scarf… It is a comfort.
These slow times allow us to slow our minds, connect with our surroundings, contemplate the beauty that surrounds us. It is a harmony that brings peace and well-being.
Your sister, Ariella, told me last week that while driving through a major torrent of rain in LA that day, she was so happy! She said she didn’t realize then how much she missed the BC temperate rainforest weather and how she found it so comforting… It gave her that much of a positive emotional boost. Like a shot of hygge.
I am so proud of you, putting in the time, effort and care, to share these photos, thoughts and experiences, for all of us to experience and ponder. And having a platform where we can share our thoughts and reactions to the beauty you capture in your photos.
I love you so much, Dad
